BLOG POST:  Interviewing Bruce Cockburn
Bruce Cockburn has a global following as one of the world’s most prolific and highly respected musicians. He blends folk with world influences that are based on first-hand experience due to his extensive travels and collaborations with musicians from around the world. His music is both personal and universal, and often raises awareness of political events and social injustice.  One of the world’s leading guitarists, he performs at a tremendous level of virtuosity that is particularly evident on his most recent instrumental album “Crowing Ignites.”  Cockburn had planned to tour this Fall (2020) to celebrate 50 years of his career, however the tour is postponed until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  You can still enjoy his music with the release of his multi-CD set from the label True North Records, available at  www.brucecockburn.com

Cockburn has written over 350 songs, recorded nearly forty albums, won 13 JUNO Awards, received the Governor-General’s Performing Arts Award, is the recipient of eight honorary doctorates, and is an Officer of the Order of Canada.  Although he is one of the leading musicians in the world and has received countless accolades, he is very humble and has a wonderful sense of humour.  His candid memoir “Rumours of Glory” provides insight into his life, career, travels, and his reflections on the situations he has witnessed, including refugee camps and war-torn areas throughout the world.  He is a musician of thought, generosity and introspection, and it was a tremendous pleasure interviewing Bruce Cockburn.     - Rea Beaumont
